
Daniel Buquet Corleto holds a doctorate degree in Political Science from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO-Mexico). He is full professor of political science at the Universidad de la República in Uruguay and has been invited to teach at different institutions in Latin America and Europe. His main academic focus is electoral systems and party politics in Latin America. He is co-author of the book “Fragmentación Política y Gobierno en Uruguay: ¿Un Enfermo Imaginario?” (UdelaR, 1998), and co-editor of “Elecciones y partidos en América Latina en el cambio de ciclo” (CIS, 2018). He has published dozens of journal articles and book chapters in Uruguay and abroad. He is currently categorized as researcher level II by the National Agency of Research and Innovation of the Uruguayan government. He was the first president of the Uruguayan Political Science Association (AUCiP, 2006-2007), member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP, 2008-2013), member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association (IPSA, 2014-2018), vice-president of International Relations (IPSA, 2016-2018) and currently he is Secretary General of the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP 2019-2023).
