Bio

Carlos Huneeus is full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Chile. After studying law, he got an MA in Political Behavior, University of Essex, and PhD in political science in Heidelberg. He was Tinker visiting professor at Columbia University (1989), twice at Siena University (1985 and 1986), he has been visiting  fellow, St. Antony´s College, Oxford, (2005), and at the Wissenschaftzentrum zu Berlin (2007). He has awards from the British Council, Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Alexander von Humboldt and Guggenheim. He was also executive director of CERC, a research center conducting opinion polls in Chile (1986-2015). He was ambassador to Germany in the first democratic government of president Patricio Aylwin (1990-1994). 

His research interest is comparative politics, particularly on democratization in southern Europe and Chile, parties, public opinion, and presidential system in Latin America. 

He has published  several books, among others:

He has also published in journals in Europe, Latin America, and Chile, and book chapters in Chile and abroad.
