The 2023 IPSA World Congress of Political Science (15-19 July) has officially come to a close and we would like to thank all participants for their involvement in this successful event. The Congress has been a rewarding event where we have learned from eminent speakers, debated with colleagues, and broadened our horizons in the field we share. We thank you for your meaningful involvement and attendance at this worldwide gathering.
This World Congress marked a special occasion, as it was in person for the first time in five years. It brought together political scientists, researchers, professionals, and students from all corners of the globe. The Congress proved to be an extraordinary gathering, marked by intellectual exchange, insightful discussions, and fruitful collaborations. We also hope that everyone had the chance to enjoy our host city Buenos Aires' history, culture, food and many other attributes.
The Congress was a great success, with 2,995 participants from 98 countries presenting their research in over 80 sessions covering a wide range of topics. The Congress offered a rich and diverse program with 2,556 papers presented in 647 panels (568 in person and 79 virtual), resulting in the largest program in IPSA's history. The highlight events included 4 plenary sessions, 3 Congress theme sessions, 12 special sessions and 4 award sessions. The program covered the major sub-fields of political science, and Research Committees organized 368 panels on their specific topics. In addition, women represented 46% of Congress participants and delegates from South America represented 45% of attendees.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the participants, session chairs, amazing volunteers, and Local Organizing Committee, whose contributions and tireless efforts ensured the success of the 2023 IPSA World Congress. We also extend our appreciation to our sponsors, valued partners and exhibitors, whose support played a crucial role in making this remarkable event possible.
We are pleased to remind you that the next IPSA World Congress will be held in Seoul, South Korea, on 12-16 July 2025.
