The call for volunteers for WC2023 is closed.

Requirements & Task Descriptions

  1. Volunteers are accepted from all academic backgrounds. Those enrolled in programs related to the fields of Political Science, International Relations, Economics, International Political Economy, History, Philosophy, Sociology, International Law, Business, Communications or Marketing may find the academic content of the World Congress to be of particular interest. 
  2. The official languages of IPSA are English and French. Volunteers must be proficient in English. Knowledge of any other language is a plus.

Onsite Volunteers Requirements

  • Onsite volunteers must be available to volunteer at the Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA) - Building San Jose - Buenos Aires (MAP)
  • Volunteers must attend the orientation held at UCA on Friday 14 July, 12:00-18:00.
  • Volunteers must be available for a minimum of three (3) full days (6 working shifts) between 15 and 19 July 2023. The working shifts will be:

Onsite Volunteer Teams and Task Descriptions

Volunteer Team Number of Volunteers Description
Registration 10-12
  • Know all participants types and badge holders;
  • Print receipts, participation letters;
  • Onsite registrations;
  • QR code scanning;
  • Website training;
  • Must be very comfortable in English.
Information: Directional / In booth 4
  • Info Desk and respond to general inquiries;
  • Know program, website, mobile application, UCA layout;
  • Liaise with special event team leader to share directional staff;
  • Monitor exhibitor area;
  • Badge monitor;
  • Must be comfortable in English and Spanish (another language is an asset)
Room Attendant 30-40
  • Manage room reports (accurate data entry);
  • Assist with loading up presentations and minor AV needs in panel rooms;
  • Know program, mobile application, badges;
  • Understand panel format;
  • Social media posts;
  • Badge monitor.
Special Events 10
  • Know special events and duties (ushers, VIP escorts, door staff);
  • Liaise with Info Desk/ Directional team leader to share directional staff;
  • Work with Room Attendant team leader in non-event times;
  • Badge monitor.
Media 5-6
  • Attend designated events for filming, streaming on IPSA Facebook page and taking photos.
  • Attend specific events to provide daily written reports;
  • Provide social media coverage (for IPSA’s Facebook and Twitter) accounts;
  • Coordinate interviews with IPSA representatives and LOC members.

Virtual Volunteers Requirements

  • Virtual volunteers must be available for orientation on one of those dates: Friday 14 July, 09:00-10:00 UTC-3 or Saturday 15 July, 09:00-10:00 UTC-3
  • Volunteers must have their own computer and a reliable high speed internet connection.
  • Volunteers must be comfortable using computers. Experience with virtual teaching or networking platforms is an asset.
  • Volunteers must be available for a minimum of three (3) full shifts between 16 and 19 July 2023. The working shifts will be:

Virtual Volunteer Teams and Task Descriptions

Virtual Information Desk 2
  • Staff the virtual information desk and respond to general inquiries;
  • Comfortable in both English and French;
  • Familiar with the program and the World Congress website;
  • Have a good understanding of the virtual platform Pheedloop (training will be provided).
Virtual Room Attendant 10
  • Supervise the virtual rooms in which the Congress discussions take place;
  • Assist panel chairs (moderators);
  • Give access to the participants;
  • Engage on social medias to promote the panel discussions;
  • Familiar with the program and the World Congress website;
  • Have a good understanding of the panel formats;
  • Have a good understanding of the virtual platform Pheedloop (training will be provided).
